“I am proud to be one of the few women in this industry”

Since the requirements for fruit are increasing worldwide, a better management of production, processing and transport is needed to reach these high requirements. Technology is a very important part of this development. Though the technology sector itself is also going through its own development. In general, there are not a lot of women seen in the technology industry but in recent years more women are entering this industry as well and becoming more specialized. 

For example Tina Sun; she has many years of experience and is a professional in the datalogger industry. She has traveled to many countries worldwide and is well aware of the different needs clients have for their fresh produce transport.

Before she worked for another datalogger company and this year she decided to establish her own company, called Fresh-key. “It is not always easy to lead your company in an industry that is mostly led by men. There are a lot of stereotypes that you need to fight, for example that women would not be good with technology. Our head of technological research and development is a female engineer, which is not that common in many companies, but I am happy we have her. She is doing a very good job and I am proud to be one of the few women in this industry. I hope it shows others that also woman fit good in this industry and can really contribute to it.”

Tina Sun started her new company this year in June. This year Fresh-key launched its own app and platform, which keeps you up to date about all circumstances of your fruit. What’s more, you could analyze all historical data with this platform, to optimize the overall fresh supply chain management and improve both the quality and efficiency of products.
